Tree Removal in Clearwater & Pinellas County, FL

Safe, fully-insured tree removal from $300 for small trees up to $3,500+ for large oaks needing crane access. Free on-site quotes, transparent pricing, full cleanup included.

What it costs and how it actually works

A standard residential tree removal in Pinellas County runs $300 to $3,500, with most jobs landing in the $600–$1,500 range. The price is driven by three things: how tall the tree is, what's underneath it, and whether we can get equipment within reach. Tree Impressions of Florida Environmental Services LLC has been removing trees across Clearwater, Largo, Dunedin, and the rest of Pinellas County since 2004 — every removal we book includes a free on-site quote, written estimate before work starts, and full debris haul-away.

Removal isn't always the right call. If a tree can be saved with structural pruning or cabling, we'll tell you. But when a tree is dead, hollow, lifting a foundation, leaning over a roofline, or in the path of a planned project, the safe and legal path is full removal. Below is what the job costs, what it includes, and how Pinellas County permitting works for trees on private property.

What's Involved

From walkthrough to cleanup

Every removal starts with Jason walking the site with you. We measure the tree, check the lean, look at what's underneath, identify drop zones, and confirm whether anything needs to be relocated (cars, patio furniture, screen panels). You get a written quote on the spot.

On the work day the crew sets up exclusion zones, drops protective mats over delicate landscaping, and either climbs the tree with rope-and-rigging or stages a bucket truck or crane depending on size and access. Each section is lowered in a controlled descent — no free-falling limbs onto your lawn. Once the tree is down, branches go through the chipper, the trunk is cut into haulable rounds, and everything leaves on our truck.

Optional add-ons priced at the same visit: stump grinding, hauling extra debris from the yard, and replanting a native tree where the old one stood.

Pricing & Common Questions

How much does tree removal cost in Clearwater, FL?

Tree removal pricing in Clearwater follows three brackets:

Small trees (under 30 ft): $300–$800 — typical for ornamentals, palms, and smaller hardwoods.
Medium trees (30–60 ft): $800–$1,800 — most residential oaks, pines, and laurel oaks fall here.
Large trees (60+ ft): $1,800–$3,500+ — large live oaks, mature pines, and any removal that requires crane staging.

Stump grinding adds $100–$500 depending on stump diameter when bundled with the removal.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Clearwater?

Most Pinellas County municipalities require a tree removal permit for trunks above a certain DBH (diameter at breast height — measured at 4.5 ft up). The City of Clearwater regulates removals on private property and protected species like live oaks have additional rules. Dead, diseased, or storm-damaged trees usually qualify for emergency exemptions but still benefit from documentation. We're familiar with the local rules and walk you through what's needed before any cutting begins.

How fast can you remove a hazard tree?

For a tree that's already down or actively threatening a structure, we respond on our 24-hour emergency line and typically reach Pinellas County addresses within 1–2 hours. For non-emergency removals we usually have availability within 3–7 days, sometimes same-week.

FAQ

Tree removal questions we hear most

How long does a typical tree removal take?

Most residential removals take 2–6 hours including cleanup. Small trees can be down and hauled in under 2 hours. Large oaks with crane staging or tight backyard access can run a full day. We give you a realistic time window during the on-site quote so you can plan parking, gate access, or kid/pet logistics around it.

Will you grind the stump too?

Yes — stump grinding is the most common add-on. It's almost always cheaper to bundle with the removal because the equipment is already on site. Grinding runs $100–$500 depending on stump diameter, and we grind 6–12 inches below grade so you can sod, hardscape, or replant clean.

What about the wood and the wood chips?

Default is full haul-away — branches chipped, trunk hauled, yard left clean. If you want firewood rounds left at the curb, just ask during the quote and we'll cut to a length you specify. Wood chips can also be left on site as mulch if you have a use for them.

Are you licensed and insured to do tree removals?

Yes. Tree Impressions of Florida Environmental Services LLC carries general liability and workers' comp insurance. We'll send you a current certificate of insurance before the job — and we recommend asking any tree company for the same. Cheap uninsured crews can leave you legally and financially exposed if something goes wrong on your property.
